Stress Alive - August 2007

Oh, Those Voices

August 21st 2007 15:39
One of the ways that I manage my stress is through music. I have just completed some preliminary studio sessions and come out with a few demos. I'll be posting them on my myspace site over the next months.

Some time back here I posted the lyrics to "Sometimes when I hear voices." It is up, now, [Here].

Check it out--I think you'll like it.

I Don't Need No Stinking Brain!!

August 18th 2007 22:33
Oh how I long for the mindless elegance of engaging with the river of life, the stream of conscisousness, and the flow of abundance. It seems my capacity to abstract, intellectualize, and activate other things new brain has created a distance from my mother, Nature.

Gaia, Gaia, where for art thou, Gaia?

The closest things we moderns can come to our Earth-based roots is what the psycho-anthropologists call the "participation mystique". Suspending the capacity for meta-thought, and truly being in the moment. Perhaps there is something to the "be here now" and "one day at a time" notions.

These days, when I hear someone say that ignorance is bliss, I hear a longing to be free of the shackles by which the intellect and new brain bind. Mindlessness requires so few rules. You know?

I know I never asked to be a pawn in the battle between my nature and the collective attempt at civility. I suppose it is inappropriate, for instance, to hump the leg of every creature that crosses my path.

I'm just saying.

When I see trees in the forest, I know that same nature resides within me. When I see ocean currents, I know those same motions reside within. When I see dogs and bears and deer and ants and birds and horses and jelly fish and even the proverbial Yeti, I know that the same nature resides within me.

And I find great comfort with this.

From here is where I find my peace. And it is from our perpetual stabs at breaking out of nature in the spirit of being civil that I draw my satire and irony.

Ain't we humans something?
