They Said They Were Stressed, Revisited

December 12th 2006 14:14
I am not one to re-post an already existing article. Yet, with the new year coming up, I find many, many people not walking their talk as they move into the new year. Claiming and intending to make constructive changes, yet...

They did. They really did. In fact, so many people have told me they were and are stressed out, that I crafted a career out of tending to such suffering souls.

Yet, when we speak of their stressors and ways to minimize or at least effectively manage the stresses of life, they become more stressed! As if I have now become the freaking stressor of all freaking stressors!?!

Go figure. I'll just create a career based on what they all said was their reality. And BAM! They don't want to do anything that will take a touch of effort to move toward what the neo-gurus would call wellness.

Wellness, you say? Yes, I know. A trite and tried term. Overused. Like co-dependence, inner child, and alot of other jingles and phrases that have become a part of the collective mantra of faux-psychohealth.

Bull feces to all who have misled me to believe they wanted some kind of assistance with the issues of stress. I am now stressed, and if stress were like syphillis, I would like to give it to you! In the rear? In the face? Wherever it may cause you boils and discomfort.

"How dare I suggest to you that perhaps you work on your breathing a bit!!!" No no. That might take some effort. Effort? Yes, I know. That might cause you stress.

I hope you don't die of a stress-related physical malady, but I hope you do fear that you will.

Oh, and "have a nice day."

I'm feeling stressed but I don't have the money to pay for stress relief. The main cause of stress is constant reminnding by parents that I don't have money but all attempts to make some money make it harder to have the time and absence of google penalties to actually make enough money to not be worried about it.

I hoped typing this would decrease stress but alas it has only worsened the emotion.

When I'm feeling stressed, I write a limerick. It doesn't really help, but it does get my mind off things for a moment. Then I go back to stressing.

Stressing about money which causes stress which causes money to become more important which causes more stress and on and on.

A poet such as yourself, Sonnet, might write away some of the angst.

Temporary relief may be all that we can really achieve. I mean, even infants go through stress when they crap or want the nipple.

I may certainly write away some of the angst. Unfortunately, the operative word here is "some"

I just finished playing in a free poker tournament for almost 4 hours, which carries its own type of stress but not nearly as bad. I won the equivalent of 30 cents.

I'm curious, Deorre, do you know who I am. Like, besides this daily sonnet character but not someone you know in "real life".

Well Sonnet, I don't think any of us ever get rid of all the stress. It is how we emotionally grow, you know. It's more about how we manage and 'be' in it.

No, I don't know who you are. I am curious now, and imagine we have crossed paths in one blog or another. Yes?

I suppose you could say that we've crossed paths. The first comment that I left at your blog here should be a big hint.

Ah yes. If you have ever had a fatwa issued against you, sonnet, then I believe I do know who you are. What an unfortunate and scary episode that must have been.

So, I'm trying to be a bit more serious over here.
