Integrity

January 15th 2007 14:50
Integrity is a great way to effectively manage stress. When one is clear as to identity, and feels good about that identity, then actions, thoughts, and words will come freely and in alignment with who one is. No needed efforts at disguising or creating façade.

How honest are with yourself? Have you spent time truly knowing who you are, what you like, where your passion lies? Doing so will create a strong foundation from which to strive.

To thy own self be true?

Hello Deorre

I've been thinking along similar lines lately and this is true. Not always easy to put in the place, but definitely worth trying to.

For me its about embracing new things but not letting go of values... oh and knowing thyself... I'm still working on that last one...

Well Damo, Tracy, and Lilla, it sure is not necessarily easy. Integrity, though, like many other things, can become a habit.

And indeed, to thine own self we must be true. We are the greatest gift we have to offer!

Damo's latest post inspired me to read some Woody Allen quotes... here's one that seems fitting:

'Don't knock masturbation - it's sex with someone I love'

Very wise words. Stick to your values and you can't go too wrong can you?

Integrity is over rated.
And definately over valued.
Nobody really has it.

Just trying to be nice and doing the right thing 90% of the time is an achievable goal though.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.--Dr. Suess

Oh my, Mr. Joe Blogg. I can accept if integrity is over-rated for you, but clearly not for me. I became so much freer and unleashed so much more energy when I stopped using most of it to sustain things that had no business being sustained. I suppose to see integrity (or the lack of it) through the lens you express would mean to really trust nobody?

Being nice is valuable, indeed.

Deorre,
I think you are misunderstanding my meaning mate.
Integrity is a very noble quality.
But most people who claim to have it compromise it in so many ways be it little things or big.
That doesn't make them bad people or inherently evil.
Nor does it make the concept of integrity impossible.
It just means that the notion of integrity is often inpracticle.
So in that sense it is over rated.
