Judging Yourself
October 11th 2006 11:49
Are you your harshest critic? Identifying percieved flaws and berating yourself as a result? Feeling less than confident as a result of how you see yourself? Teaching others, who may think that you are just fine, that indeed you are not?
Well, STOP IT!
What good does this do? Nothing. If you truly believe, upon judging yourself, that you are so flawed, then do something to change the situation. Learn what you need to learn to make the needed changes.
On the other hand, if you are simply judging yourself too harshly, then this must also be looked into. What drives this stern look at who you have become? Family legacy, or some such thing? It can be helpful to know this while you are re-thinking just how you do assess and appraise yourself.
It is not a bad thing to pass judgement upon yourself. In fact, some would say that such introspection is a value and an asset. I agree.
The key is to be open, honest, and realistic with yourself. And, rather than criticize yourself and stop, make changes if changes are indicated.
